Anyone else notice the seemingly endless list of 'producers' who are given credit at the start of each Simpsons episode ? There are executive producers, co-executive producers, producers, etc, etc. Does anyone know what the deal is here ?

I don't know if you have the Simpsons season 2 DVD set, but there's a joke about this on one of the commentaries.

I don't think this unique to the Simpsons. Try watching any recently produced show and you will see it. I think "Friends" has at least 6 full producers and another 3-4 lesser ones. I am sure there are a lot of egos involved with the creative process in Hollywood [IMG]

Q: What's an Associate Producer credit?
A: It's what you give your secretary instead of a raise.*

That said, an animated series might actually require a larger staff than a typical TV series.

My guess is, being such a long running show, the names have accumulated over the years as more people have been brought on and fewer have been let go. It is also my guess that the more familiar names are now the less active ones.
