I don't know why I was thinking about this last night, but I was wondering how many movies I owned that were three hours long, or more.
I own 11 movies that fit (or come very close) this category:
The Godfather (5 minutes short of three hours)
    The Godfather Part II
    Pearl Harbor
    Apocalyse Now Redux
    Das Boot
    Dances With Wolves
    Dr. Zhivago
    Gone With The Wind
    The Green Mile
The Sound of Music (5 minutes shy of three hours)
    Lawrence of Arabia
I may very well be adding Red Beard to this list after watching the Criterion disc yesterday. Great movie!
How many of your DVD's are three hours long?

    Lawrence of Arabia (216 min.)
    Doctor Zhivago (200 min.)
The Fellowship of the Ring (178 min.)
Gone With The Wind (238 min.)
    1959's Ben-Hur (212 min.)

I'll be picking up Amadeus - Director's Cut: SE and The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition soon, as well.

    Honorable mentions...

I have the VHS versions of It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World (182 min.) and the Zoetrope version of Abel Gance's Napoleon (235 min.).

When MGM makes Stanley Kramer's version of IAMMMMW availible to DVD after letting Robert Harris fix it, I'll have it. Same thing when Francis Coppola allows Kevin Brownlow's 5 1/2 hour cut of Napoleon availible...instead of his wrong speed, mediocre scored, edited version. No offense, but 24 fps. really make a good bit of the film look very wrong.

My only ones are Dances with Wolves, JFK, and Malcolm X. Heat and Casino each missed the mark by less than ten minutes.

Why would you do this Rob? I was perfectly happy not knowing how many movies I had that met this criterion.

And now? Now I must consider.

The longest theatrical movie I have on DVD is Cleopatra (1963) which according to the cover is a bumnumbing 248mins long.
    Ben-Hur (1959) is 212mins.
I have Stephen King's The Stand on tape and that clocks in at a staggering 345mins.[IMG]
Just checked my widescreen copy of Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America and wow it's even longer than Ben-Hur, an amazing 218mins!
