It seems like no matter how many hours of sleep I get, it's never enough. I usually sleep 8-9 hours. I've been considering visiting a sleep specialist.

As for the bad rap about the characters--hey, I've seen space operas that put their emphasis on human personalities and relationships. They're called "Star Trek" movies. Give me transparent underwater cities and vast hollow senatorial spheres any day. --Roger Ebert on The Phantom Menace

I normally get 6-7 hours I guess but some people really seem to need lots of sleep.
Fact is that you have a natural time to wake up so even if you give yourself a lot of time to sleep, your alarm is pretty much guaranteed to wake you a the wrong time.
Work is bad! [IMG] but unfortunately necessary. [IMG] [IMG]
BUt I didn't know there were sleep specialists so if you get some answers about sleeping let us know! [IMG]

I typically get about 5-7 hours a day (closer to 5 on weekdays and closer to 7 on weekends). I rarely sleep more than 7 hours unless I am extremely tired or sick.

I usually get 3 1/2- 4 hours a night plus a half hour nap around 6 pm. A buddy of mine told me he gets 12 or 13 hours of sleep during a 24 hour period. I told him that he was pissing half his life down the drain in bed. He said, " Ya, but I'm also pissing away half my life when I am awake." He's a 28 year old part time employee at Brown's Chicken who still lives with his mother. His mother is, you guessed it, his manager at Brown's Chicken. I think I saw his point when he told me that.

I've never understood people who willingly deprive themselves of sleep.
Getting a proper amount of sleep makes your waking life more enjoyable, and makes you more productive and simply healthier (physically and emotionally).
I had a roommate in University who used to boast about not sleeping more than 4 hours a night, telling a bunch of us the line about "sleeping your life away" and "I'll sleep when I'm dead." Yet, he often fell asleep in his classes and I was with him once when he fell asleep...in a nightclub. Some life.

With a new baby in the house I'm down to about 4 hours per night. Once I'm awake I can't fall back asleep. At least I'm catching up on my DVD watching.

    Mitty,
I cant speak for any one else, but my lack of sleep isnt by choice. I would like to sleep 8 hours a night, but simply cant.
It happens every so often, becuase the lack of sleep catches up with me every few months, and then I sleep well for a few days but then its back to the normal routine.
As I said on a good night Im asleep by 12 and get up at 6:30 am.
Ive always been this way, even as a kid I would toss and turn for hours before falling to sleep and no remedy has ever worked for me.

I work midnights, 7 days on/7 days off. During the work week, I sleep as much as possible, about 9 hours is good. During the off week, about 6 to 8 hours with the odd catnap in the afternoon.
I did sack out for 14 hours one day during my off week a couple of weeks ago, though. Must have needed it.

    ~7 weekdays
    ~10 weekends
I've found that it's not how much you sleep, but whether or not you wake up on your own. Waking up to an alarm clock makes me want to fall asleep again.
