It's funny you should mention this now because I'm currently in the process of changing all the light bulbs in my house from incandescent to fluorescent – mostly compact fluorescent. There's a dimmable compact fluorescent bulb I want to use, but it's about six inches tall, including the base, and I'm having a lot of trouble finding fixtures that will hold it. Nevertheless, I regard the extensive use of dimmable compact fluorescent bulbs throughout the house a sort of a Holy Grail.

    No, really.

So what category does that put me in?

Sorry... I just snorted coffee through my nose, and had to comment. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a sudden urge to change a lightbulb. [IMG]

Did you pre-order that new kind of light bulb?

Didn't Chu Gai tell you that fluorescent really doesn't save you any money?

What's the best bulb for 'demos' to friends?

I'm ready to start to a lightbulb thread! (??)

    You forgot to add:

1 Moderator to close thread due to topic devolving into political diatribes between the pro-light and pro-darkness contingents.

Did you mention the black levels of the light and that some people get a rainbow effect?[IMG]

What about those that lobby others to make sure they use a standardised Radio Shack Light Meter to make sure they have a balanced lighting system after the transplant of the light bulb has taken place? Then there are those that think the Radio Shack Light Meter is inaccurate in some certain light frequencies and claim you must adjust your readings to something else? Then there will be those that have a light meter from the 1960's and wonder if the same changes need to be made to his/her light meter readings because things were built better in the 60's. Then..........

Disneyland/World supposedly replace their lightbulbs before they burn out.

Guess I should order that new HTF so it can be pro-actively upgraded with no outages. Better order some extra salsa too.

Non-North American members complaining about how the North Americans have nicer light bulbs, but fortunately their lamps are able to accept 60Hz/110V light bulbs as well even though their own electricity is 50Hz/220V, since everyone knows North American light bulbs are best so overseas manufacturers build lights that can accept all varieties of light bulbs.

To which some North American members respond that once in a while, a special model of European light bulb is particularly attractive, but North American lamps are rarely able to utilize non-North American light bulbs and they have to go out and specially get a new lamp.
