I recently passed the 100 mark. How many total DVD's do you guys/gals own?

In your opinion, what are the best DVD's out there right now?

    234 and counting.

I try to buy across the board, so if I'm in the mood for a horror movie in the future I can put on anything from THE EXORCIST to PRINCE OF DARKNESS. Right now MOULIN ROUGE is one of my favorites to show off my system.

I have 105. Can't really say what the best DVD is. What's great to one, sucks to another. I do think some like Shrek, The Phantom Menace, Gladiator, and Terminator 2 ultimate edition are great.

    3..2..1..moving to Polls.

DVD Profiler says I have 152. I count titles, not discs. (So Gladiator and Shrek are 1 title each, not 2 discs each)

    164 going on 300
Although, all my friends (for some reason) maintain that I have to add a disclaimer saying that 72 of them are anime [IMG]

We have 1039, I believe. Ever since I was a kid I always wanted a movie library. VHS were too bulky and space-consuming, and laserdiscs were too expensive. DVDs were/are juuuuust riiiiigt!
Only a small fraction of them were bought at full price. Most of them are eBay purchases (and 3/4 of those were new, never opened) with the rest coming from major Columbia House sales, discount stores such as CostCo and Best Buy, sales in retail stores such as Tower and Borders, and pre-viewed DVDs from our local mom'n'pop video store and Blockbuster/Hollywood. Only a tiny handful were bought through on-line stores.
Circumstances have forced us to halt buying for now, but there are still a few hundred titles I want. A couple more years, maybe...
Vickie (and we still go out to the theater several times a month!)

    Vickie,

    Gotcha beat by about 60...

    I have 1097.

I count by individual discs, not by content.

I count discs. MR would be 2, French Connection 2, X-Files would be 7. If I counted any other way, it would be terribly inconsistent -- how would you count X-Files, Buffy, or From the Earth to the Moon -- 24, 12, and 12, just because each episode is really a separate title, or would it be 1, 1, and 1 because it's just one season? How do you count SE content discs, if the SE is on a separate disc from the movie in one package, and in another package it's combined with the main feature disc?
Counting by content rather than by physical media leads to inconsistencies as the layout of that content varies between one media release and another. Discs are the safest way to go.
So how many DISCS do you have, then, Vickie? [IMG]

I realize this is confusing, but here goes. By my official count (my Excel spreadsheet), I have 241 DVD's. This includes 259 movies on 263 discs. Generally, I count a single case as a single DVD. The Monty Python set counts as 14 (45 episodes), as does the Laserlight Alfred Hitchcock Box (16 movies, 2 TV episodes). The Simpsons counts as 1 (13 episodes (?), 3 discs, 1 case), as does Masterworks of the German Horror Cinema (3 movies, 1 disc, 1 case). Rebecca, Citizen Kane, Gladiator, etc. all count as 1--each is a single movie, multiple discs, but only one case.
What's worse is that I used to tell people that I had 732 DVD's, but my wife insists that porn doesn't count.[IMG]
