i was looking at prices for a 4'X8' sheet of flat black laminate and it looks like the price is gonna be about $60-$70, how many spray cans of black primer and black laquer would it take to paint a 22" cube enclosure to make a piano black gloss finish, i'll probably decide which method i want to do when i see how well the enclosure ends up

To make it look almost as good as the laminate will? Much more than $70 worth. [IMG]

Don't forget, if you're ordering laminate, that you have a lot of choices in sheet sizes to minimize waste.

You can order widths of 24", 30", 36", 48" or 60" with any combo of lengths of 72", 96", 120" and 144". Not all finishes or grades are available in all sizes, tho.

To get a finish as nice as laminate you will need to use a true spray gun. An automotive finish gun or HVLP gun would be best. I'd never tackle that with a spray can unless I was using a flat finish.
