Hi Everybody,
The subject says it all. I'm about to upgrade my projector to a Screenplay 7205 and have also been looking at the Samsung HD937 DVD player. The problem will be the DVI cable run between the two. Is there a length limitation?
Is it possible to buy suitable cable, connectors and do-it-myself? Please bear in mind that I am in Australia and I don't have ready access to firms in the US.
Regards,
Michael Carey.

I believe the specfication calls for a cable no greater than 5 meters or about 15 feet. However this, I believe, is if you're running max resolution down the cable. People have reported acceptable results with longer cables but invariably that means lower resolution.
They're a pricey cable for sure but maybe ebay in australia or some general cable companies who provide for the professional industry as opposed to consumers might work well. If I dig up something for you in Australia I'll post it.

On the AVS forums there a lots of people running DVI cables from 13 to 30 or even 50 feet... they seem to say its ok...

The shorter the better always.. but it look not to be a huge problem...

this is why I'm looking into the dvi fiber cables it is a dvi fiber optic cable that's supposed to be good up to 300 feet or so. Now all I have to do is find a distributor

just punched in DVI fibre cable in google and got this

smallest there is 33" and biggest is 330".. for $2100!

looks like 30-33 feet is the smallest fibres cable.. and from 300-600 US I think COpper would do me just fine.... ;)

you can conveniently get long DVI-D cables in 25', 50', and 75' lengths... claiming 9.9Gb/s and/or 2048x1536x60fps.

These range from $60 to $110 from Markertek's 2004 catalog.
