My dad has got Dish Network, and 43 inch HDTV. I'm trying to prod him into getting some sort of HDTV signal (we don't even have progressive scan yet).

I was wondering if for Dish Network it is worth getting the 6000 + the 8VSB, or getting the 6000 with a 3rd party OTA receiver. Basically I want to know if by going with the 8VSB there will be loss of quality of the OTA signal.

Thanks,

From everything I have read, it OTA on the 6000 looks exactly like OTA on any other HD receiver. Don't forget about the 8PSK module to receiver Discover HD over the satellite.
