How good is an Alpha Shield internet security protection device?

    I saw one of these internet privacy protection devices yesterday "100% guaranteed to stop hackers" etc etc. How good is this thing and what exactly does it do? BTW it was cdn$149 at Future Shop.

    never heard of it before...but nothing is 100% hacker proof...just ask NASA.

    Unless it is a total hoax, it pretty much has to be a device that stops all incoming traffic since it has no configuration options.

    Building a brick wall where your front door used to be will keep out burglars too, but make it fairly difficult for yourself to get in too. [​IMG]

    Personally I'd get a normal cheapo router/firewall combo instead that you can at least open up somewhat if you need to.

    That said, I don't really know a thing about those devices so all this is conjecture, guesswork and personal opinion.
