I learned today, mostly sure, that our local B&B iMax theater has closed for renovations and will reopen in about a month as an AMC theater. It has been a multi-screen theater.

I'm concerned that AMC might do away with the iMax screen, it's the only one in Arkansas. This has always been a poorly managed theater. Since we are retired we have always gone to screenings during the weekday when turnout should be light, so I can't say how they did on weekend. I do know that if the movie wasn't on the iMax screen, we went elsewhere.

What are you opinions on AMC? Are they committed to iMax?

I'm very satisfied with the IMAX presentations at my local AMC. I have never had an issue.

I think AMC is very committed to their IMAX partnership. They've renovated two of their IMAX screens near me in the past six months. They were basically fine as is; they didn't need to make an additional investment but still did, so I think that's a good sign overall.

Thanks, guys. This is good news. I am really hoping they will keep the IMAX screen.

I hope AMC will have better local management. We only went to the IMAX for the big screen. If the movie we wanted wasn't on that screen we went elsewhere.

This article titled "West Little Rock movie theater closing for remodel, will be operated by AMC Theatres" states:

When it reopens in mid-July, the theater will become affiliated with AMC Theatres of Leawood, Kan., and will retain its IMAX theater, officials with the Little Rock shopping center said.

That looks like the same article I read, but I missed the mention of the IMAX. This is really good news.

I almost never to go AMC's version of IMAX. I did see "GotG2" there the other week and thought the presentation was good.

However, when I saw "Sully" at the Cherry Hill NJ AMC IMAX last fall, the screen was dirty - it had a blotchy look that became a distraction.

Complained to IMAX, got free passes - dunno if they fixed it...

AMC related...

We saw WW at the one AMC we have in town, which is in a ghetto part of town, and in it's day it was a stellar facility, it slowly started dying, then a few years ago they were the first to offer leather reclining chairs etc.

It's been a few years since I've been there and when we saw WW in the biggest screen they had, I was shocked at how disgusting the theaters are. Seats were ripped in several spots, many of the once a rich red color we literally BLACK with dirt/body sweat and whatever other crap has been mashed onto them. There was all kinds of old food between the cushions. It was just gross. I felt like taking a shower right after we left if felt that icky.

Such a shame that some of these places just don't seem to care anymore about the condition of their facilities.

I have NO plans to return to that theater.

I just found out a local 16 cinema theater (was a Carmike that had run down a bit and had poor audio) was bought by AMC awhile back and they have renovated, reviews are much better. Its like 10 mins from my house and might get me back into theater watching. I'm the type that likes to watch a movie that has been out a few weeks early on a Sat or Sun, so we are going to watch the neat Fast and Furious at 10am Sat morning, and then Guardians at 0945 Sun.

Be interested to see what's up, I have no experience with AMC. I also notice the RealD showings they have, always enjoyed 3D on the BIG screen.

I was facetiously commenting that they had done all they were going to do by giving you free tix. :)

Oh - got it! :)

From what I understand, IMAX is pretty good about correcting issues, so I'd be curious to know if they fixed the ugly screen. I don't live there - maybe we have a South Jersey HTFer who can report!
