How exactly does X10 work?
What equipment would I need to say, control my light?
What kinda stuff can I do with it?
I'm getting finished building my home theater and would just like to put as much stuff as I can to make it nice..
Thanks,
Nathan

X10 is a military spec. It basically sends a digital code over your existing AC wiring. The devices you install receive the codes and decide if the code is for them. If so it does the appropriate action(On,Off,Dim). X10 is great because you do not need additional wiring to make it work, but that is also a disadvantage. In my case UPS, surge/filter outlets, or distance caused some X10 devices not to work. In the end I decided not to use X10 for my HT, but rather use a Lutron 4 zone controller with a slave IR sensor. Much more reliable than X10, but more expensive. I do use X10 to control the light in the main part of the house.
