    -----------------------

WASHINGTON - If it seems like more of your time is spent stuck in traffic, you may be right. In cities large and small, the daily struggle with bumper-to-bumper traffic is getting worse.

The average rush-hour driver wasted more than two full days _ about 51 hours _ sitting in traffic in 2001, according to an annual report released Tuesday by the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University. That's an increase of four hours in the last five years.

The price tag: $69.5 billion in wasted time and gas, said the study, which looked at 75 urban areas.

    -----------------------

That's pretty accurate for my area... I spend about 50-55min during rush hour commute from college to home. How's your commute?

I only live a couple of miles from where I work, yet it consistently takes me 20 min to get to and from work. I know 20 min isn't a lot of time, but compared to how close I live it is.

I live in Dallas and commute—but against the primary flow of traffic—to the burbs in the am and back to the city at night.

Just long enough to listen to a bit of Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

1 to 2 hours to travel 48 miles. It's not too bad, but the worst part is going I-95 South toward NY - YUCK! [IMG]

I have a 10 minute drive to work so Tulsa isn't that bad but if you live in some of the outer suburbs and need to go to downtown it still isn't bad. The drive home from downtown to say Broken Arrow can be as bad as 25 minutes or last I checked but that has changed since they updated the freeway.

I would say on the whole, Tulsa's traffic isn't that bad.

We're (Seattle) 12th. 56 hours divided by 52 weeks divided by 5 work days is 21.5 minutes a day stuck in traffic. I don't think that's sounds bad at all.

But that must just be the time you are standing still on the Freeway. A typical commute from Seattle to Everett in rush hour is an hour to 90 minutes a day.

I commute into Orange County from Long Beach. Not to terrible of a 15 mile hike. 405 seems to always be slow. Like Lew, thankfully there is KCRW for the drive.

Allright! Denver representing at #3! The traffic here do sucketh. My commute takes a mere 25 minutes during rush hour. However, that same stretch only takes 8 minutes during off peak hours.

I think here in Milwaukee you can get pretty much anywhere in town within 20 minutes. I laugh when I hear people complaining... they don't know how good they have it.

I used to be a courier for Fedex in Phoenix, I'm suprised to see that they're ranked at #6. There were certain roads that would gridlock daily during rush hour but I didn't think that it was that bad.

Not too bad considering (San Diego)

    20 minutes in the morning...
35-60 minutes on the way home...

    about 15 minutes without traffic...

I-5 through the merge... it could be worse... at least I'm not on the I-15...

I dont think the Boston score is high enough - to get anywhere North or South of the city, you pretty much have to go right through the center of the city (central artery) where your commute is guaranteed to be at least an hour for the 3 miles of the artery.

128 is awful as well, although not as bad as it used to be, thanks the crap economy (most of the tech businesses along 128 have closed).

The Mass Pike is OK as long as you are heading out of the city in the morning, and into the city at night (my 12 mile commute on the Pike averages about 15 minutes - my 3 mile commute on 128 averages 30 minutes).
