I can't count how many things I've learned on this site so far. Just wanted to send out thanks to everyone for having such great conversation on here.

I'm putting together a HT in my basement over the next few weeks, and wanted to get some opinons on it. Audio budget is around $2000 , but I think I rounded up some nice components. Am I missing anything?

Already purchased the projector (X1) & will be making my own screen

Receiver: Denon 1803 (possibly the 2803)
DVD: Panasonic DVD-F85 (my only requirements are progressive scan & DVD-Audio compatibility)
Main: Energy C-1
Center: Energy CC-1
Surround: Energy XL-150
Sub: Energy S8.2, S10.2, or HSU Research VTF-2

About the real only questions I have are:

- Any reasons to go with the 2803? Other than the increased power & 2 more inputs, there doesn't seem to be any other reason. Am I missing something?

- Any opinions on my sub choices? I've heard good things about the HSU, but haven't heard one in person.

The entire room is about 15'x35', but the HT will be in half of the room (15x15).

Any opinions you could give are much appreciated. I value the opinions of everyone on here greatly.

Thanks for your time!

Hi Ace!!
The system you have in mind sounds nice. I don't know a lot about Denon but that brand has recieved good reviews on this forum. I would go with the 2803 if it had preouts for future upgrades as the upgradeitis will set in as soon as you get comfortable. This is an exspensive hobbie but a lot of fun. Let us know when your setup and post some pics if you can. Your on your way!!!

PEACE!!!

It has a lower THD, so I would surmise the sound quality is better overall.

Thanks, Junie!

It was originally between that Denon & the Onkyo 600. After reading around here for a while, I came to the conclusion that while Onkyo definitely isn't bad at all, Denon might be the better brand. That was the only real reason to go with it.

I'll definitely be posting some pics soon. I'm out of town most of next week, but plan on getting everything started when I get back. I can't wait!!

Any opinions on the sub or receiver selection from anyone?

I think you'll be quite happy with that setup. Not sure if your budget would allow, but I think you might be happier with the c3s for the front. The C1s are a little "thin" sounding in comparison-- but still a great speaker. It also might fill the space all that much better. Also, for the rears you might be better off with another pair of c1s or the cr-1s. Either way, I think you'll be quite happy. Let us know what you decide.

I thought the C3's sounded rather nice myself, but the budget is already getting quite stretched as it stands right now.

Plus, I still need to get furniture. :frowning:

I'll definitely let everyone know. Thanks for the opinions!

For what its worth, I think the X1 is a great little projector and should serve you well. Now I have a $1500 47" Widescreen RPTV sitting around because the X1 is now the main viewing unit in my living room. With the bulb prices being so cheap (and getting lower) it was the obvious choice for me.
