How do you make the best connections? (1 Viewer)

In putting together my system, I am wondering if there is any significant loss of picture quality if I run all of my video connections through my pre-amp/processor (Anthem AVM-20), then make only one video connection from the Anthem to my RPTV? Or, is it alway preferable to run video to the display directly from the source?

How about using the 5.1s outs from the source (DVD) as opposed to the digital output?

The Anthem has very high bandwith component signal switching (100 MHz), so there should be no loss. Unless the player has a really good decoder, most people just use the digital connection to the processor.

Since a DVD Etc. writer has responded we'll keep this here. Otherwise, such queries belong in "Receivers/Amps." Thanks!
