Just noticed this new feature here at HTF.
Now we can see, via an actual physical number, exactly to the second the amount of time we waste (er...sorry...spend) in here. [IMG] [IMG]
    I like it!
Another fine feature from our friends here at Home Theater Forum! THE GREATEST WEBSITE EVER CREATED!! Who concurs? (That's what I thought you'd say.) [IMG]

I honestly dont get how it works.. is it how many hours all together youve been on HTF, or like how long you were on on your last visit?

If the numbers are, for example, 4 :32 :20, it means:

    4 hours, 32 minutes, 20 seconds.

    (that's you, Benny)

It would never be accurate in my case, because I'm always on line and always have multiple windows open (sometimes as many as 20). At any one time I could have 3-4 Windows just dedicated to HTF. That's not to say I spend all the time reading. I could get up, check e-mail (which includes HTF responses and updates), work on the computer, go to the store, come home, fix food, check e-mail again, check HTF, maybe write something, go watch a couple of movies, go to sleep...or even go away for days, with the computer on and all the windows still open. So hours for me will accumulate like MAD, wheras I will really only be spending a small fraction of that time here.

The script is smart enough to take inactivity into account. It's not based on how long you have an HTF page open, but rather takes the time between page loads.

In fact, if you are reading a really long page, it might not even count that time that you were on the HTF.

While you're on a PROFILE page click on the "Total Time Online:" link.
    Veddy interesting.
Go to the last couple of pages. How do people accumulate negative time?

I think the negative time people are ones who've not posted at all. Probably just started at -ve time rather than 0 or something!! Usual computer weirdness!!
I'm glad to know the script is 'intelligent'.
Actually that means those guys at the top of the list - OW!![IMG]

I'm not sure I understand what the value is still. Mine is only 8 hours and divides out to 22 seconds per day.

Not likely I can assure you.

I would guess that this time count comes from the script implementation date onward. But then is the average divided by total days as an HTF member??

Yes it is, Seth. So the average time on line isn't worth worrying about.

I'm gonna take a small guess here and suggest that these stats will be of use to Parker and Ron if/when they have to appoint new Admin staff.

What about posting time? Does the script count from the time you initiate a post to the time you submit it?
It should since that is all time spent toward HTF, even though you are probably not doing any scrolling, linking, etc at that point. If you write a lot (like me) this could deflate the true time you've wasted spent at HTF. [IMG]
Or maybe I shouldn't feel as guilty as I have been feeling lately. I'm way down the list behind a bunch of losers. And here I thought I was one of the biggest HTF busy-bodies lately. [IMG]
