how do you know how something is supposed to sound like ...

    Because it sounds real. Real vs. electronic.

    That's my reference anyway.

    Obviously the one that reproduces the sound exactly. Because we will never no what the original was exatly ment to sound like, go with what sounds good to you.

    If you go to a live performance, the sound is amplfied through microphones and Pro audio equiptment so even then it can be misleading.
    Even if you hear the performance in person there could be somebody coughing next to you ruining the effect...
    The truth is that whatever sound your speakers play, is right, because if it's not, then it only leads you to the vicious cycle of upgrading.
