On the East Coast, shows like "The Today Show" or "Good Morning America" start at 7:00AM ET and run until 9:00-10:00AM ET. But how do west coast markets receive these shows?

Do the anchors do an entirely new shows for West Coast audiences? If so, how do live performances work?

    Thanks!

Yep, and it really sucks. I have seen network news say stuff that was updated on local news 1/2 hour earlier. It makes them look like idiots. Not the newscasters, but the network.

Is any part of the morning shows updated? Or is everything just played with a 3 hour delay (for CA)? So someone in CA is hearing Katie Couric read headlines at 7:00AM PT that I heard 3 hours ago at 7:00AM ET?

    Thanks again.

If there are breaking news stories, sometimes they stay live. (You can often tell because they will indicate they are "Live PDT" vs. just "Live" or "Live EDT".) But mostly it is tape delayed. That's why I prefer watching the morning news on CNN -- when I'm up at 4am.
