Not quite sure which forum to post this on... or if anyone will even care, but here goes anyway....
I've been buying DVDs much faster than I can watch them. With a full-time job and a rather high-maintainance girlfriend, I get maybe about 8-10 hours a week of quality time with my precious discs.
Feeling overwhelmed by the (ever-growing) pile of unwatched discs, I decided to calculate how long it will take me to get through them all. Even discounting features I know I won't bother with (isolate score tracks, radio productions of Rebecca, etc) the results are ugly....
    04:14 A.I.
    06:24 Almost Famous
01:34 Battle of the Planets 3
01:34 Battle of the Planets 4
05:00 Beastie Boys Video Anthology (wild guess)
04:31 Big Trouble in Little China
    05:30 Blade
    03:49 Blood Simple
    04:12 Cannibal! The Musical
    06:58 Cast Away
    03:27 Chushingara
    01:35 City Hunter
01:44 The Curse of the Jade Scorpion
    04:48 Dark City
    02:42 The Dark Crystal
02:17 Dawn of the Dead (Director's Cut)
    02:22 Day of Wrath
    03:52 Dead Ringers
    01:56 Deathtrap
    02:44 Elephant Man
    07:20 The French Connection
    02:12 Ghost World
    21:01 The Godfather box set
    03:18 The Great Escape
    01:56 The Great Santini
    03:52 Marx Brothers box set
    02:02 Miracles
    03:56 The Nightmare Before Christmas
08:22 Once Upon a Time in China 1,2,3 box set
    01:45 Police Story 2
02:01 The Postman Always Rings Twice
    01:42 Project A 2
    05:46 Rebecca
04:20 Rush Hour 2 (assuming I can handle the audio & text commentary simultaneously)
    04:40 Say Anything
    03:24 Sex Lies and Videotape
03:36 The Sixth Sense (Vista Series)
05:44 Star Trek The Motion Picture (assuming I can handle the audio & text commentary simultaneously)
    08:13 Star Wars Episode 1
03:34 Strangers on a Train (might not watch both versions)
    05:32 The Talented Mr. Ripley
02:48 Thou Shalt Not Kill ... Except
    04:32 Total Recall
    05:38 Tron
    04:01 Used Cars
    05:01 Willow
    02:32 X-Men
    Total time: approximately 200 hours!!!!
In other words, at my current rate, I should get through this pile by about mid-August. By which time I'll have accumulated another huge pile.
Anyone else feeling swamped by their DVD habit?

I have around 70 titles and I still haven't gone through all of...

    Mickey Mouse In Living Color

    Disneyland USA

    Being There

    Air America

    Gone With The Wind

The two WDT DVD's and GWTW are partially watched mainly because of their lengths. Being There is being saved for a nice movie night.

    Heck, Martin........
In the massive amount of time it took you to compile that detailed list, you could have watched a couple different discs, and reduced your unwatched pile!! [IMG]
I would say .... Just don't worry too much about the unwatched pile. So what? They'll still be there in 2005 (right)? No degradation, too!
I know what you mean, however. My "unwatched" titles are considerable as well. But I like having lots of unwatched stuff myself (for future snowy days)!
    Peace.

Of my 355 titles, I am glad to report that I have only NOT watched two. Killer Clowns From Outer Space & Moulin Rouge. Someday I will get around to watching Clowns, but I will never watch Moulin Rouge because I tried twice and failed, couldn't get past the first half hour. So I guess I'm about 4 hours in the hole, not counting extras.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

If you are shutting this movie off after the first half hour, then you are not giving it enough time. The first 45 minutes are a bit of a rough go because of the way it is edited to create a sense of surrealism and hedonistic excess. The movie actually settles down as you get to know the main characters and their stories take shape. By the end of the movie, it is actually not a bad film at all. Watch it for at least an hour before giving up on it.

I have 21 discs unwatched. I've been trying desperately to get caught up cause I'm sick of missing out on discussions of discs that I don't see until months later, but I can't seem to ever get closer than about 10.

Part of the problem is Netflix. If I didn't also rent 10-12 discs a month from them, I could probably be caught up.
