Does this mean I'd need to join the Disney Movie Club, or whatever the heck its called, just to
    get this one Blu-Ray?

It depends on what you want to pay for it, but it's the cheapest way (for US and nonQuebecCanadians) assuming you need/want a few other Disney's. Or you could work with one of the locals here to get a copy for a reasonable price. I think mine are probably spoken for already given DMC 3 per account limit, but there are several folks here who joined with 20000 Leagues who might make a couple copies available.

Otherwise the scalpers will extract whatever you're willing to give up.

There was a Mickey Mouse Disco short included with this movie, though I don't remember it or the overture when I saw it back then. The short was issued on tape only as a rental title, possibly an exclusive with Fotomat and I've never been able to find a copy. They should include that on this disc.

Whether or not they should, I don't expect Disney to break precedent for this release line on this title - and the precedent is that no Disney Movie Club exclusive Blu-rays come with bonus features.

I just hope it has a right front channel, unlike the original Anchor Bay non-anamorphic DVD. :)

I saw this movie countless times in December 1979. I recall the overture every time but never saw a Mickey Mouse short at my screenings in the NYC area.

When this news hit, I started playing The Black Hole soundtrack. Took a screenshot and posted it on Instagram saying "in honor of the forthcoming blu ray release" and tagged the DMC in the post. They reacted with a smiley face with heart eyes.

Likewise. No short. I even made an audio recording of the movie onto cassette and the first thing you hear is the overture.

Yes. But easier to work with if there are issues - which I found to be very rare (I've had none with the 4-5 memberships I've had over the years).

Still a "negative response" club - they'll send the selection-of-the-month unless you decline it by a specified date but at least you can do it online, by phone, or mail in.

I'm just waiting for a few things to move to enrollment eligible to join again...

See this post in the "Anyone join the DISNEY MOVIE CLUB?" thread for the beast enrollment codes and more info.

In general terms, but basically a Yugo vs Mercedes comparison -- they're both cars.

Not sure why BobOLink's link isn't going to the right post, but search post 715 in the DMC thread.

I think that's the last general summary.

There are, or were, 2 links there - one on the words "this post" which is to your post #715. The other was to the first post of the thread. I can see where it might be confusing... I changed it so now both go to your post #715.

I actually clicked on both links and the "This Post" went to the top of the last page (post 751 for me) instead of my old post. I can see the link which points to post 715, but it was being redirected to a different place in the thread

Turns out is may be just my browser cache, but it's still doing that for me on my regular browser. I tried on a second browser adn with InCognito and the links do go to the correct post

I guess now folks have a different ways to get there

That's just odd... They worked for me on 3 different browsers at home and at work. Oh well... as long as people can find what they need it's all good, eh?

It happens on all threads that have a lot of pictures in them. The thread loads with text only and your browser locks on to the position, but then the pictures start loading which stretch out the thread like an accordion and the browser loses the position. I think it depends how fast your browser loads the pictures. Mine will sometimes land on the wrong position and then re-position correctly once the pictures have finished loading.

Edit: Or I suppose it could be just the opposite, in that it lands on the incorrect position without pictures and then becomes the correct position once the pictures have finished loading.

I should have tried the different browser originally when I kept getting sent to th wrong post, but I've almost given up trying
to figure out why sometimes links end up in the correct place and other times in a totally different location or even website.
I guess as long as folks can get to the right post eventually it doesn't matter a lot , I essentially copied that post into the 20000 Leagues thread due to the frequent questions about DMC. I guess if it gets more repeats here, that might end up being helpful eventually

I know the referral add-on to outside the forum totally screws up some web sites, but others work fine.

With this coming release, I’m now wondering what the status is on the rumored TBH79 remake?

Same as the status on the 20,000 LEAGUES remake, which may explain why we're finally getting both of these films on Blu-ray.
