Yeah for me. I finally closed on my very first house this morning! Over the next week stuff gets installed and I will finally move in for my first night next thursday night. Very exciting times, just thought I'd share, now if only the rain would stop!

We moved into our first house in late December. You've got some fun times ahead of you.

Best of luck, hope it doesn't turn into a 'money pit'. You are already into home theater, that's one money pit. Who needs two ? So when will we be seeing pictures in the 'HT Construction and Interiors' forum ? [IMG] [IMG]

Congrats, dude. I know when I closed on my place six years ago, it was both exciting and scary. Exciting because I was finally a homeowner, but scary because I never had a "house budget" to deal with. Things were a little tight for the first year, but since then it's been pretty much smooth sailing, knock on wood.

Yeah spent about $600 at home depot just this weekend. Blinds sure are expensive. All the utilities are setup except phone and that happens today (yeah for family members coming into town to help sit at house and wait for utility people!). I'll still need to buy a lawn mower, hoses, sprinklers and eventually a grill. No new home theater stuff for awhile though. My first night in the house will actually be thursday night. I don't need to make my first mortgage payment till the end of march so that'll be good.

    Congratulations.

Please tell me you're installing your blinds yourself, and not letting HD do it for you.

    Mike,

    Congrats!

This thread's especially relevant for me because if everything goes according to plan, I should be posting a thread very similar to this in mid-April: my wife and I had an offer accepted this past weekend and we're scheduled to transfer title on April 17th. We're pre-approved for the loan, the house is vacant, and we're in an apartment, so everything's working for us from that aspect. The inspection is tomorrow so after that we might be in the clear.

    -Brett.

I love buying new houses (I'm on my third).

It's exciting to move your stuff in and set everything up where you want it (especially the HT stuff [IMG]).

In fact, my wife has the itch to find a new place due to recent developments in our neighborhood. She says she's "just looking for fun", but I know that leads to "we can't pass up this beautiful house".

I think she is a shop-a-holic... except, instead of clothes it's houses!

Congrats, Mike, on your first house and the privacy to really crank up your sub!!!

In a related story, my new neighbors moved into their first house on Saturday, which is of course next door. Sunday, my band had its regularly scheduled practice at my house. I'm sure the neighbors hate me already...
