I am hoping to get some opinions on something.

I have been recommended by some friends to house and dog sit for a friend of theirs. I went to meet with him and during our conversation he said that he would be paying me. So my question is, what does a house/dog sitter make? If he says to me "How much will you do this for?" I want to be able to make an informed statement rather than "ummm, I dunno, a hundred bucks???"

It is more dog sitting than it is house sitting. He is the kind of guy that brings his dog to work and doggie day care because he doesn't like the dog to be alone. That is why he wants someone who doesn't have a day job and loves dogs (me on both counts, which is why I was recommended.)and also because he refuses to kennel his dog.

So, I called around and the average kennel rate is $16 per day.
I asked a friend and he immediately said $50 a day. I thought this was pretty high, especially if it is a 2 week job. That would be $700...which would be pretty awesome (hello new Denon receiver that I've been eyeing).

So, what do you all think?

A friend of mine used to get about $20/day USD.

Pet visiting services charge about $12 USD per visit, 45 minutes duration.

If they're strangers, I think $25 USD is a deal, $30 more like it.

So, $25/30 USD per day. That's what, $600 per day Canadian? [IMG]

Yeah, I figured that $50 per day was kind of high. That would be about $40USD per day.

50.00 per day sounds good if they have Bose..... consider it "combay pay" [IMG]
