anyone able to find the Criterion release of Hopscotch at a B&M?
i went to the local BB and they didn't have it in stock. a search of their computer system shows it's not in stock in any BB in Oregon! and, they have none on order, so they don't intend to carry the title.
    no luck at Borders, either.

and, i actually stepped foot into a CC today!!! first time since DIVX. no luck there, either.

    Craig -

I happened to be at the Borders in Beaverton this afternoon, and I noticed someone buying the Criterion Hopscotch. He had had it on hold. I don't know if they have any more copies, but they had at least that one. Too bad it's gone now!

    FYI

I'm going to check my Borders tomorrow (w/a 15% off coupon & a $5 certificate through my mom-in-law's Border's Visa card) and will see if they got more than one. I'll let you know how I make out.

I ordered mine through DVD Planet for $19.47 which is a good price anyway.
Did you guys see the Hopscotch review over at Dvdfile? Very condescending. The reviewer basically said that now that the cold war is over, he can't relate to the film. I'd hate to see his opinion of Casablanca. And he said it wasn't a comedy! But then, he ended by saying that it was the least worthwhile Criterion ever released. What a moron. Can't they give these reviews to people who appreciate the films? Very uncool. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I checked my usual Best Buy and Circuit City stores, and neither had it nor showed that they ever had.
I found one copy at Borders and the girl who checked me out said I was the second person to buy it today. So, Borders in Charlotte had at least two copies. [IMG]

Oops. I didn't realize my post above actually made it. My computer froze up and never registered. I got home from work and decided to make the same rant in an independent thread instead of trying to post it here again. And, now I see my original went through. Sorry for double-posting (sort of).

I know what you mean about the widescreen, Jeff! I had the VHS of this, and I was just blown away by how much better the movie looked on DVD. And the restoration job they did was beautiful!
