Hooking up a Playstation 3 to a Home theatre system! Help Please! (1 Viewer)

I have recently bought a Sony 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theatre System. I have a Playstation 3 and a Sony LCD 46' T.V. Before buying the home theatre system, I was using a HDMI wire to connect my PS3 to my T.V.
The salesperson told me I had to buy another HDMI cable to connect the home theatre system to my PS3 and I did. But I can't figure out how to connect it.. Anybody help please?

I currently have it hooked up in the following way:
One HDMI cable from my PS3 to my TV
One HDMI cable from my TV to my Receiver

What is the model number of your Sony home theater receiver?

Basic info.

One hdmi cable from the PS3 to an hdmi INPUT on the receiver.
One hdmi cable from the receiver hdmi OUTPUT to the TV.

Select the hdmi input on the receiver. Calibrate the audio. You're basically good to go.

It's exactly that simple. I promise.

On my receiver there is four options to plug my HDMI cable into...
there's:
- DVD In
- Sat In
- Video 2/BD In
- HDMI Out

there's no HDMI In :frowning:

Each one of those is an HDMI input, but
Since the PS3 is also a blu ray player, use the Video 2/BD In..........

Uhhhh, if says "something something In", and it is for an HDMI cable, then you can probably assume it's an HDMI In. Considering you are plugging in a BD player, I would go with "Video 2/BD In".

oh and JohnRice, don't make stupid comments like that. It's the first time I install a home theatre system and it's not as simple as it looks.
