Hooking Philips 1000w home theater to ps3 (1 Viewer)

Hey, i have a ps3 that hooks to my tv using hdmi, but how to i get it to run off my hometheater so i have a full 5.1 surround expierence while playing cod 4??? But still have my hdmi hooked into the tv.

Howdy!

Having just solved this same trouble, here is the easy answer:
If your receiver will not handle HDMI, there is a config menu for audio that will select the "optcial out" for sound. That's what I had to do. This is in the PS3 manual, but isn't real obvious, especially with their teeny print and faded ink. Note that you will not get the high end gorgeous audio this way, but there is no other choice.

If your receiver handles HDMI, then you pass it through the receiver to pick off the audio, and have the receiver send the video on to the TV. If your receiver won't pass the video, then you'd need an HDMI splitter.
