When you wire your system what wires shouldn't cross paths? Should power, vid, audio, and speaker wires run separately bundled together??

Is there any degradation if you run sat or ant through a monster power filtering strip?? Is it worth the protection??

Thanks B

Hi Brett.

I like to have 3 separate bundles:

- AC Power cords pulled to one side
- Speaker wires flowing out
- Interconnects loose or slightly bundled down the middle of the back of the rack.

In the Tweeks and connections fourm is a post I did last year about how to install your new reciever. A lot of suggestions are included there.

Power Filtering: Surge supression and power filtering are 2 different things. A surge-supressor is a MUST HAVE. Most good power strips have these.

Power conditioning/filtering is a bit more controversial. It largely depends on how dirty/noisy your AC power is AT the time you watch your system.

When in doubt - buy a power conditioner from a store with a good return policy. Try it in your home at your normal watching time after your system is warmed up and you have been watching for ~30 minutes. Shut things down, hook in the conditioner and see if you see/hear a difference.

Hope this helps.
