I'm just getting a region free dvd player and was wondering where I can find the Hong Kong Classics dvds'? With all this stuff with Disney will I be able to find them?
You can get Hong Kong Legends discs from any good e-tailer in the UK (Amazon UK, many others), but just having a region free player won't help you. You also need a DVD player that will convert the PAL signal into NTSC format, like the Malata or a couple others out there. Otherwise, the discs are useless.
Here's couple of places. Link Removed Link Removed
Under 18 refers to the price of the movies. I think the mailman thinks it's something else when he sees a label like that!
I have had good service from both of these places. They even have good sales on occasion.
Matt
Nick: e-mail me. I have some new sealed HKL DVDs for $18 each (beat that you UK e-tailers!).
Under18 said they were not fulfilling any orders to the US a few months back because of complaints of floaters and "ahem" lost packages. They sent DVDs in a thin paper mailer. I had a two floaters out of three
Ka,
You are correct in stating that most (if not all) Hong Kong DVDs from Hong Kong are NTSC.
However, Link Removed is a firm in the UK which distributes Hong Kong movies. Since they are in the UK the DVDs are region 2 and PAL. The are considered the "Criterion" of the Hong Kong movies since they generally add several special features and use remastered transfers for an anamorphic picture.
You are correct. However, some Hong Kong Legends Disc are Dual R2 and R4. Wait till the Australians find out about this! Also, there is the Dutch Hong Kong Legends DVDs, which only sport different covers. Offer is still open through Sunday.
