I got a Panasonic SA-HT900 system for Christmas, my 1st system. I love it. One qustion though - it states 700w of total power Home Theatre mode and 430w of power FTC mode. Is this something I can change in settings? What does it mean? I have found nothing on this at Panasonic's website?

Output Power - Home Theater Mode (FTC) Total Power: 430W
    Front: 35W x 2 (120Hz-20kHz, 6 ohms, 1% THD)
    Center: 140W (120Hz-20kHz, 6 ohms, 1% THD)
    Surround: 35W x 2 (120Hz-20kHz, 6 ohms, 1% THD)
    Subwoofer: 150W (45Hz-120Hz, 4 ohms, 1% THD)

Output Power - Home Theater Mode Total Power: 700W
    Front: 60W x 2 (1kHz, 6 ohms, 10% THD)
    Center: 220W (1kHz, 6 ohms, 10% THD)
    Surround: 60W x 2 (1kHz, 6 ohms, 10% THD)
    Subwoofer: 240W (100Hz, 4 ohms, 10% THD)

How does it know which mode is which?

    Thank you.
    :b

No that is just its rating....
10% THD is not use-able power.
1% is sort of the fidelity limit, I suppose.

I can only hope you got it for an insanely good deal and you do understand your near the lowest end of entry level, so keep your expectations modest with the product.

If it meets your needs, I hope it gives you many years of great service.

I got it for $299 for the whole system. Since it is my 1st system and I have no money for any of the "GODLY" equipment you all have, I am very happy. Some day when I have some extra money, I will get much better stuff, but with this my 1st entry into Doly Digital and DTS, I am in awe!!!

Yep, that is what it is all about....

It has caught your attention... beware, upgrade-itus is indeed a consume'n illness.... lol

I'll bet it is a heck of a lot better than my first system(s).....

It's kind of like a maximum output thing.... JUST for the numbers.

Kind of like the old ghetto blasters that had the big sticker on the speakers that read "800 watts P.M.P.O"

    Bren
they old put out like 20WPC but it looked cool
