Hello! In November I am getting a cash payout on life insurance. It should be coming to about £1,500. I have no idea of dollar conversions is it about $1,900? anyway, I am definitely getting th Denon AVR 3802. I have read a lot of goood thing about ir. Now, considering that this can decode DD EX and DTS ES, what speakers can you recommend?
My room is about 5 meteres square.
I'd be really grateful for some help, as I really am a beginner. :)

well...that all depends on your preferences.
Will you be listening to music as well as movies?
Are you looking for a tower, bookshelf or satelite design in speakers?
Are you looking at getting a subwoofer?
How much will be left for speakers?

    Oops, I dropped my eardrums.
Could you pick them up for me?

From my Experiences it is best to spend more than what you can afford so that you don't need to upgrade sooner than now. [IMG]
    Have fun building your Theater.

About £400 - 500 will be spent on a speakers. I'll be using this mainly for movies, and a little music now and again.

I recently upgraded my receiver, speakers and subwoofer for about US$1900 and I'm very satisfied. But I allocated my budget very different from what you're proposing.
    nOrh 4.0 speaker system - 5 speakers, $850 www.nOrh.com
    SVS 25-31PC subwoofer - $700 www.nOrh.com
    Onkyo 595 receiver - $360 www.jandr.com
I've listed current prices. The speakers and sub come with free shipping to the US, but I have no idea what shipping costs will be for you.
I spent the bulk of my budget on speakers and subwoofer since these could last several decades if they're not abused. But after 5 or 6 years a surround sound receiver will be showing its age. By then I'll be thinking about upgrading the receiver again to get better quality, more features and decoders for the latest formats.
Besides, speakers usually have the greatest impact on the sound.
