There would not be a moment
To guess

Just be in the feeling
Oh what a cold one it is
And though it’s curiously new
I never thought the
Other side would under

Stand

This is a song lyric, but I guess it goes anyway...

As I lay, down with you
Everything is fading out of time and space
All is gray, not a hue
Coming to a desperate start

On the way, holding true
Everyone can see the hope upon his face
He will stay, and imbue
Power in the desperate heart

i love jill scott who is a lyricist and a poet. i have poems of my own that i will post later, but this is jill's that i love.

Met him on a thursday, sunny afternoon
Cumulus clouds, 84 degrees
He was brown,deep
Said he wanted to talk about my mission
Listen to my past lives (Word?)
Took me on long walks to places where butterflies rest easy
Talked about Moses and Mumia
Reparations, blue colors, memories of shell topped adidas
He was fresh,like summer peaches
Sweet on my mind like block parties and penny candy
Us was nice and warm,no jacket,no umbrella, just warm
At night we would watch the stars
And he would pyhsically give me each and every one
I felt like cayenne pepper,red,hot,spicy
I felt Dizzy, Sonya, heaven, and Miles between my thighs
Better than love,we made delicious
He me had,had me he
He made me tongue tied
I could hear his rhythm in my thoughts
I was his sharp, his horn section
His boom and his bip
And he was my love

Love rain down on me,on me,down on me

The rain was fallin and,and slowly and sweetly and stinging my eyes
And I could not see that he became my voodoo priest
And I was his faithful concubine
Wide open, wide, loose like bowels after collard greens
The mistake was made
Love slipped from my lips
Dripped down my chin and landed in his lap
And us became new
Now me non-clairvoyant and in love
Made the coochie easy and the obvious invisible
The rain was falling
And I couldn't see the season changing
And the vibe slipping off it's axis
Our beautiful melody became wildly staccato
The rain was falling and I could not see
That I was to be plowed and sowed and fertilized
And left to drown in his sunny afternoon
Cumulus clouds,84 degrees,melody

Question: Are those that have already posted young people?

*I just came to the realization that only a young person could start a thread like this in an off topic section of a Home Theater Forum*

Sometimes I hold my breath when I listen to you.
I want to be the one to save you, but I don't want you to be the type that needs saving.
As much as I tried to stop it, I've changed. We all have; though I tried to stop that too.
I try too hard, when I try at all.

Nothing is coming together, and I know I am to blame.
I have always pushed people away. And I push harder immediately before I can get hurt.

Why do so many of us not care? There is so much pain, I suppose it's easier to just focus on our own.
Try not to be disappointed.

Why aren't new memories as vivid as they were when we were children? Why doesn't it feel like Christmas anymore?

I went from pop rock to hip-hop then stopped.
Then on to hard-rock, indie-rock, indie-pop to punk (pop).
Don't forget drums and bass
(a two-year phase)
and that stint with techno in the late eighties.

Where can I go to just have fun? I'm tired of trying to have fun.
For the love of something or was it just for the fun?

Or was it just to forget?

Meh... I'm not so happy with my last writing now that I see it up on the screen. Hopefully, this will get the bad taste out of my mouth:

Darkness of Days

The one thing you are accustomed to
is the thing I despise.
The one thing you count on
brings our demise.
The one thing that you cannot stand
is my way.
The one thing that brings you here
drives me away.
The one thing that is the same for you
is different for me.
The one thing that you cannot hear
I am able to see.

When we come together
we go our separate ways.
You make light out of night
and I, darkness of days.

Put the gun of your hate to my head
pull my trigger.
As our time grows smaller
my rage grows bigger.
I only find you when you're gone;
I miss you when you're here.
Your explanations are long;
your excuses, all too clear.

The one thing you do not notice
is only my whole life.
The one thing that's harmless to you
cuts me like a knife.
The one thing you cannot explain
I easily decode.
The one thing that calms you down
makes me explode.
The one thing you do not see
is apparent to all.
The only thing we can agree upon
is the spring and the fall.

When we come together
we go our separate ways.
You make light out of night
and I, darkness of days.

The previous Movie Haiku thread was great fun, but shortlived. Come 2005 I am planning to do a variation of a list of the movies I watch, but rather than keep a list write a haiku for each of them.

wrote this a few months ago ...

Potting Soil

searching the seas of hope
looking for a visual distraction
a different reaction ...
a common thread
so you no longer ...
dread coming back

when will you realize
that man is the same everywhere ...
a tough skinned beast
hiding a porcelain heart

the thoughts ..
under layers of tacos, teriyaki and tika
are there with you ... always with you
in the belly of the beast

fall from the sky
sink down below
bury your head and steer your tears

age and knowledge can increase
but the tenderness ... the human heart
is still in single digits
... for all ...

come full circle
turn red, turn blue, turn yellow
but green is within your root ...
hope is within your blood

I liked both of yours (even the one you didn't like). Very angst-y/dark :D .

I will continue to lurk here and read. Not much of a poet myself. If I was writing it would be fantasy novels. :D But I don't mind reading poetry.

And mama's cookin' breakfast with no hog.

Here's one I wrote in high school English class. My sonnet was inspired by The Crystal Cave:

When the Autumn cometh, and the Winter snow
And the trees are barren, and the frightful cold
Makes the landscape glisten, when the wind does blow
Then I will return, like so oft of old.
From the bowels of the Earth, from Hell itself
From the fiery regions, that are my home
And into the light, like a fiery elf
To live like a man, and not a gnome.
Yes my love dearest, at last I have come
Through the black night, on the breath of a breeze
And of our love, all musicians will strum
Because of the Love, that no mortal can sieze.
So come with me dearest, to my fair domain
And never more suffer, from love's bitter pain.

You can't tell I was a D&D player then also ;)

I write a lot of lyrics/poems, but they tend to be political protest in nature, so most of them I couldn't post without violating forum rules.
