Hey all..

I'm currently using a all-in-one home theater system, Philips MX3550 to be exact. I'm currently looking into buying the following reciever:

My question is will everything work alright? I'm not looking to purchase new speakers or anything.. Main reason for the reciever is game consoles (optical in).

I wont blow my speakers will I? Total system power is 300W, like 50W per speaker, what if the amp gives out 65W+ per?

Do your speakers connect to your current receiver with bare speaker wire? A lot of the HTIBs have propriotary connectors that will not with with a normal receiver. (By doing a quick search I think yours has special connectors)

You will need to see if Phillips makes some kind of so you can use normal speaker wire with the new receiver.

The cords are split at the end into two small wires which are clipped onto the dvd player.

Here's a cost-cutter... how about an optical-to-coaxial (or c-to-o) converter?... $17:

A whole new receiver should not be necessary just to accommodate your gaming connections... plus, the above-mentioned difference in hookup from a HTIB to a separate receiver could be real chore.

I ordered a ONKYO TX-SR500. Hopefully everything works alright and I don't BLOW my speakers.
