Hey everyone -

I was wondering if I might get a little help... ings

I have just purchased a JBL SCS160SI cinema surround package and for the most part its great

except the sub (a 10" powered) seems to cut in and out alot

any ideas on repair or how I might correct the issue??

not sure..........
are all your speakers set to small? Make sure they are, in your player's setup, as well as in the setup of the receiver. See if that makes a difference. May need to adjust the gain on back of sub. May be the sub's cable got pinched and broken on the inside.
Double check these things and let us know if it helps any........
Good luck!

Does the sub have an auto-on feature? I couldn't acertain whether it does via a quick google search.

If so, and turning it "on" manually is too irritating, you could try raising the sub output on the receiver, and lowering the gain on the sub, so the output to the sub is high enough to keep the sub from shutting itself off if it thinks it's not receiving any signals.
