Well I finally got a DVD player for my girlfriend and have stepped out of the HTPC area...sorry guys...but I have one problem. How the hell do I hook up her Altec Lansing ADA885 speakers to the digital audio out on her DVD player. The back of the speakers have a SPDIF input, so I tried that hooked to the digital out on the dvd player but no luck. Made sure all the DVD settings were sending out Digital and all that but what am I doing wrong?
    Thanks for the help.

I just spent many hours getting my soundcard SPDIF working,
A lot of my problems were with the drivers.
I guess the speakers must have a A to D converter and amp inside them
Are there any settings on the speakers?
Good luck I hope you have an easier time

Well I messed with it for a couple of hours and couldn't get the Dolby Digital to work but somehow I ended up with Prologic working so I guess I will just have to stay with that until she gets a surround sound setup, or I am forced to pick her out one. Thanks for help, I guess they are just made for the computer soundcards only so she will have to survive without digital for a little while. Thanks again
