I just received my new computer from Dell. (Dimension 4300, 256MB SDRAM, 40GB hard drive, P4-1.6GHz, Win XP, etc.)
Anyway ... I would really like to convert some home movies from Hi8 (analog) to CDV format. I'm assuming I need a video capture card that accepts s-video and stereo sound. I searched the HTF and really can't find much discussion on this subject, except this brief thread.
Any recommendations? What do these cards cost today? Is one better than the other? WIll I need any additional software to do the conversion?
Or ... should I consider stepping up to a DVD Burner. This week, Comp USA has the Que! DVD-RW unit on sale for $349. But I assume I'll still need the video card.
Excuse my ignorance on this one ... but this is new ground for me.
