"Home Movies" is nifty, but I'd give my right arm, which is the important one, for a season or two of "Dr Katz" on DVD. Any news on this front, any rumors, anything?

I might need therapy!

The last I heard, Dr. Katz is owned outright by Viacom. Home Movies is owned by Tom Snyder Productions. Different ownership.

I'm dying to get Dr. Katz, though.

I'd be happy if Comedy central just RERAN them now and then. Great show and amazing guest stars. Conan O'Brien and David Duchovny were hilarious.

The closest we get is a Dr. Katz cameo on Mr.Show.

That's what I've heard as well. Talked to Niki Herbert, an executive producer at Tom Snyder Productions, a year or two back and they don't have the rights to Dr. Katz. Comedy Central does.

Comedy Central teases me on Saturday mornings with Dr. Katz and Duckman... sheesh... Just release the DVDs or put me out of my misery. :)

Any news on the old Comedy Central show Bob and Margaret?

His "South Park" appearance is on DVD as well. I have both. It's too bad that the actual show isn't available.

Honestly, I've never watched Dr.Katz, but I love home movies, and a guy I work with swears his soul to DrKatz every morning, so If these came out, I'd probably go for it. Blind Buy!

Which show is better? That is a very difficult question to answer...

Dr. Katz - Pros: Home Movies - Pros:

*Ben Katz *Brendon (Cartoon Character That Reminds Me the Most of Myself)

*Dom *McGuirk

*Ron *Jason

*Fred *Lynch (Possibly the Most Realistic Portrayal of a Teacher on TV)

*Laura *Less Formulaic Than Dr. Katz

*More Characters Than Dr. Katz (Not Including Patients)

Dr. Katz - Cons:

Home Movies - Cons:

*Some of the Patients Can Be a Little Over the Top

*Very Formulaic (Not a HUGE Problem) *Some Wacky Episodes (In Later Seasons)

*Random Music Segments (This Isn't Really a HUGE Problem, Though, Only in a Few Episodes)

I guess Home Movies has more pros than Dr. Katz, so I'm going to have to give the edge to Home Movies and say I like that show better.
