Unacceptable. I'm not paying to ship back a keepcase at my expense. Why do they need the case? Am I supposed to keep the 2nd disc? What gives?

Tom, the subtitle is missing on the main title screen, the Swedish title doesn't show up. I'm not sure if there's other problems or not.

...and the other subtitle problems are that with Toshiba players, the subtitles turn on every few minutes, even if you turn them off. They just keep turning on by themselves.

    Bruce,
Don't forget the Sonys too... CTHE should do better than this. I don't think we should have to pay for their error, whether mastering or crime of omission...

Why can't you just go to the store you bought it from and exchange your defective copy for a new one, like what Sony did for Leon: The Professional?

I just hope they put a big Version 2 sticker on the fixed ones (assuming it is ALL fixed) for retail distribution.

Isnt it annoying that these companies make their mistakes OUR problem?
    A simpler, quicker, no cost solution: FAX a sales reciept to CTS for a replacement;
Sure, a few may get an extra copy that dont need it.
    But thats CTSs' problem...not ours.
At least a small company that can ill afford to give out free discs has the right idea.

Let's not forget Fox and Cleopatra. They fixed it well!
The stills on the second disc also have one frame of DD noise encoded on them. A speaker buster to be sure!

If anyone knows a phone number for CTHE, I'll be glad to call on Monday morning to voice my personal concerns for this BS.

Outrageous! I have not yet purchased this DVD as I am waiting for the fixed version to hit the shelves. But I'm still outraged with this proposed solution. After all, it's our fellow forum members and Python aficionados who are getting the Double-CTHE shaft here. The studio is sweeping the problem and fix under the carpet as quietly as it knows how. Wrong! The studio should openly admit there's a problem and deal with it appropriately. No one should pay shipping to get a replacement for a defective product. Period! If the studio won't replace the DVD free-of-charge (no shipping costs), then I recommend returning the DVD and demanding a refund. Go back to the retailer and to speak to the manager. Slam your fist on the counter; do whatever it takes to get your money back. If you bought it over the Internet, do the same with phone calls and emails. Correspond with your credit card company if you have to. The studio is taking the path of least resistance here. So the heat needs to be turned up folks; otherwise, the studio will go on doing business as usual as it, well, knows how.

My main concern is that when they do fix this that they make clear on the packaging that it is the fixed version. Often when these fixes happen with DVDs (and also console games), we have to wait a few months for the fixed copies to filter in to the market, and then make our purchase. But there's always the risk that you could be purchasing old stock meaning you have the hassle of getting your disk swapped. It's understandable that companies dont want everyone to know they made a mistake the first time round by declaring on the packaging that it's a fixed copy, but i think keeping there customers informed should be more important than sparing them a few blushes.

Yes to clearly marking the fixed version. We certainly don't need another Jurassic Park DTS fiasco on our hands. At this point trying to sweep this under the carpet and hoping no one notices isn't going to work.

At least they're fixing the disc. Since it works well on certain players there's an argument, however invalid, to be made that it's the fault of the players. The 5th disc of Paramount's Godfather set won't play on my Toshiba, but Paramount has steadfastly ignored the problem.
I don't mind sending my disc to CTHE. Not at all.

Personally, I'm not sending jack back to whoever. My copy works because I have a Pansonic but you can bet when they release a "Version 2", I'll be right at Circuit City to exchange mine. They are generally pretty good about taking back defective things.

Well, the Leon replacements had a different UPC code and the summary on the back was slighty reworded. I'd hope they do something similar for this one.
