Got a catalog advertising the "72 series 4 disc set over 19 hours!"
I think thats the NHL vs Russia series where the Russians walked off the ice after the flyers knocked the $%^ out of them.
Anyone remember or actually see the DVDs?

I've got these DVDs. It's the 1972 8 game Canada/USSR series. There are 4 DVDs with 19 hours of footage. For each of the 8 games, they are complete and uncut.

Would you recommend this set to someone like me who's never seen the series? I mean, an 18 year old Canadian kid like me who loves Hockey?

To be honest, I haven't had a chance to watch the series yet. I got the DVDs just as the new season started this year, so due to the NHL Center Ice package and the choice of 5+ hockey games to watch each night, I haven't had time to check it out.

I was born in 71, so I never saw this series. Given that it's been described as some of the best hockey every played, I don't see how any hockey fan (especially a Canadian one) could not end up enjoying the series. My recommendation, if you're a hockey fan you probably can't go wrong having this in your collection. Until the NHL wakes up and starts releasing full games on DVD (anyone besides me interested in owning the full games for each of the Oilers cup winning series on DVD?) this is a good substitute.
