I was just thinking as I scanned by the TV section of the HTF that now that The X Files have gone off the air I don't watch any TV shows from week to week anymore...not one. Granted I am more of a sports nut and watch baseball, basketball, etc. on a nightly basis. But not one TV series do I watch since The X Files.

Plus the fact that there isn't much on worth watching!

Can anyone recommend a TV series along similar lines as The X Files that I may want to check out?

Oh...almost forgot about Twenty Four...I'll be checking that out this fall. So there is one show I will be watching.

Besides Mystery Science Theater 3000, I don't watch television. Oh, and sports-this is Wisconsin, ya know! Been this way for the past 5 years and I haven't missed a thing.

    Does premium cable count?
    The Sopranos
    Six Feet Under
    The Wire
    Sex and the City
And let's not forget FX's original series The Shield, which isn't due to return until January 2003.
Right now, the closest thing to The X-Files in terms of byzantine mythology would probably be Alias. But in most ways, it's a very different show.

Yeah, I watch Futurama and King of the Hill, and that's about it. Oh, and David Letterman.

How would you know if you don't watch any TV? [IMG]

24 is a good start. There were some flaws in character development during the mid-afternoon of the first season, but it was definitely one of the best new series of last year.

If you liked The X-Files because of the paranormal subject matter or the monster of the week episodes, then you might enjoy the following shows:
    Buffy the Vampire Slayer
    Angel
    Smallville
    The Dead Zone

If you liked the government agent investigative aspects of the show, then check out the following:
    Alias
    The Agency
or there's CSI and Crossing Jordan, if you liked the medical examiner/autopsy stuff.

Finally, if you just liked the clever, humorous writing and the strong chemistry between the lead performers, check out:

    Gilmore Girls
    Ed

If you're looking for all of those things rolled up into one show, you're going to have to pay for The X-Files on DVD. [IMG]

If you have Showtime, check out Jeremiah. Season 1 reruns are on now until season 2 starts.

    The Simpsons
    ESPN Sports Center
    Iron Chef
    Monday Night Football
Thursdays and Saturday College Football Game Day
    The Man Show
    South Park
    That 70's Show
And yes, these are shows I watch on a daily/weekly/seasonal basis. [IMG]
And I still have time to go out on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

The last television show that I faithfullly watched was Star Trek TNG back during its initial run. Since then my television time has been all but taken over by surfing the net. Come to think of it I spend a whole lot more time listening to AM radio than watching TV.

    I watch three shows regularly:
    The Simpsons
    Futurama
    King of the Hill
and nothing else. Reruns of shows I like are cut down to sell more commercial time, so I don't watch them.
I don't get HBO, so I can't watch any of their shows unless I were to buy them on DVD sight unseen.
Thank god for TV on DVD. Where are Columbia's follow-up releases?

Odyssey 5 (on Showtime) has a X-files feel to it. I'm a huge X-files fan (can't wait for S6 DVD set in Nov!!). Some think it is kind of a X-files ripoff, but I don't agree. The show gets better and better. I'm certainly going to keep watching to see where it goes. I also recommend Farscape (which is nothing like X-files).

I miss the days where I was following religiously every episodes of Space: 1999 and Battlestar Galactica. Of course, that was a long time ago. Nowadays, I just don't seem to be able to really follow any TV shows.

The only shows that I've kept up with have been:
    Buffy The Vampire Slayer
    Enterprise
    Frasier
...... I guess that's it. Although I have been taping Angel...I plan to catch up on that soon enough.
The only other show I've sampled bits of lately has been Tracker with Adrian Paul(Highlander). I like what I've seen so far. [IMG]

Adult Swim rocks. I've enjoyed both Deadzone and Monk as well as the aforementioned HBO lineup (it's the only reason I pay for the channel), Nero Wolfe, and The Shield. I'll also mention Farscape which I like though, for me, its been somewhat up and down of late. I almost forgot to mention Coupling which is awesome.
It's funny, I watch a number of shows but they all occupy only two days of the week: Friday and Sunday. Other than that, if it isn't The Simpsons, I'm not really interested as far as regularly watching.
