Rookie here, who has learned just enough over the past week to be dangerous. Can you give me the thumbs up or down with my first purchase into true home theater...

I am planning on buying the new Harman Kardon DPR 1001 ($750) and combining them with the Aperion Audio speakers with a 10" sub ($1399).

A. The 50w per channel petrifies me with the DPR 1001 (the 2001 with 100w per channel won't be available until fall.
B. I feel I should consider THX but just can't pull the trigger.
C. Is a power amp plausible in the future to boost the 1001?

Thanks for all your help!

I wouldn't worry about the 50w per channel. Harman Kardon is very conservative in their ratings. In my opinion, THX is just a brand name-it will cost you more and be less noticeable difference. Go for what sounds good to you. Your wallet will thank you. BTW, excellent choice on the H/K.
