My parents recently purchased a HK AVR 320 on my advise for $299 at Fry’s.

In setting it up today, I keep having a problem in the Master Menu. I understand how to set the In & Out and Surround Setup. However when I come to the Speaker Setup I can’t access the whole menu allowing me to setup all the speakers that they have. They are running an Acoustic Research HC6 system 5.1. For some reason the receiver doesn’t allow me to access whole menu to turn each speaker on and set them as small or large and also turn the sub on. I can get into this portion of the menu, but I can’t scroll up or down threw the complete series of speakers. I sometimes get Subwoofer: LFE+L/R under the sub section or I get Left/Right: and Subwoofer: .

What am I doing wrong? Or do they have a defective chip in the menu? I’m looking for all the help I can get as this is driving me crazy. My Integra 7.1 menus while sophisticated are as complicated like this HK.

Have a wonderful holiday and thanks for your help.

    Jeff,

The HK has independent settings for each input, and for each surround mode. In order to see settings for more than the front L+R speakers, you need to select a surround mode other than stereo. When I set up my HK 520 for Dolby Digital/DTS, I just fired up a DVD and made sure the receiver was in DD mode. I was then able to access the DD/DTS modes from the surround menu.
