hk 7200 or 8000 (1 Viewer)

my installer has penciled in the 7200 for my theatre. i notice it is not thx certified, but the 8000 is- does it matter?? or is there an alternative in a similar price range that is better??

The 8000 and the 7200 are both excellent choices. The 8200 does have a few advantages over the 7200 I believe, but the 7200 might have better video switching (not exactly sure). Either way the 7200 should be more than enough.

THX certified doesn't really mean much, and if I was a major company I don't think I would spend the money to get a little sticker when I know my product can already do what that sticker says it can do.

Keep in mind that the 8000 only has 5 amplified channels. The 7200 has 7 amplified channels. Are you planning on a 5.1 system, or a 7.1 system. If you are going to go 7.1, you'll need an additional power amp to power those last two channels.

Also, at the link, read towards the bottom. The 8000 was rated @ 110 watts per channel - but, produced 116 when tested.
