HK 347 vs Denon 1908 vs. Onky 605 (1 Viewer)

I am looking for our first home theater system and considering these receivers. There is so much data out there and so many different opinions that I find good and bad in each of these units. Still, I simply do not know enough about what matters to decide which one to buy.

I am looking at refurbs as they will save me som emoney and seem to do fine based on all feedback I have seen.

HK 347 $330 delivered 1 yr mfg warr
Denon 1908 $390 delivered 90 day mfg, 1 yr retailer warr
Onkyo 605 #330 delivered yr warr

So.. which one do you suggest and why ? I will hook it up to a Sony 52 inch W3000 HDTV, dishnetwork HD DVR and a PS3.

Finally, do these receivers allow he video signl from my dishnet receiver to go to the tv if the power on the receiver is turned off ? does the receiver always need to be on ?

Please advise...
ohh,,, and someone suggested the Yamaha 663.. but I have no idea what they go for..

I don't own any of these receivers but based only on what I've read, I'd say the HK is the best choice. HKs have solid reputation for sound quality and for honestly reporting power output. Also, IIRC the 347 is further up the "food chain" in the HK product hierarchy compared to the others in their respective product ranges. The only thing I'd be careful about is that any HK you get has the latest firmware installed. JMO

Where are you seeing a 347 for $330? I've seen 247 for that price, but I'd be interested in looking at the 347 if I can get it for a comparable price to the Onkyo 605.

I have demo'd the HK and Onkyo back to back through my speakers and I prefer the HK for sound quality only hands down. Although, the Onkyo has tons of bells and whistles on it. I have not heard the Dennon though.

I was all set on the HK 347 but found out on this forum that new HK's are coming out this summer...with all the bells and whistles and great sound to boot. I'll be the first in line at my local store for the new HK 254!
