Hitchcock's Rope - widescreen? (1 Viewer)

Rope is an 1.37:1 academy ratio movie from 1948. So does anyone have any idea why the DVD has a widescreen banner at the top? Is it MAR or is this just a flub on Universal's part?

That picture has been doctored. Rope does not have a widescreen banner across the top, and is presented in 1.33:1.

I have the Hitch box with it in and George is correct. That picture has been altered. Would this have been done pre-release by Amazon or what? I don't get why it would be altered.

My only guess is that it was early cover art,

and the banner was a mistake, removed before

the DVD went out to stores.
