Hitachi Power doesn't come on (1 Viewer)

GOt back from two week vacation, turned on Hitachi Ultravision 50UX52B RPTV (new in '97). Power LED comes on for 1-2 seconds, then goes out. Set never comes on. Subseqquent pushes of power button do nothing (no LED, set doesn't turn on).

If i unplug for a while, plug in, same thing: the first push on pwer, LED comes on for 1 second, set never comes on. Subsequent pushes of power, nothing). Hitachi service tech coming Monday.

Any ideas?

That sounds all to familiar to me. I had the same thing happen. My set had a bad power distributor and few fried transistors. It only cost $78 to fix it all, but then again I knew the repair guy and he cut me a break on the labor. Hopefully it is something similar, since it was an easy fix.
