Has anyone seen this TV. Circuit City has it on display. I have not hear anything about it. Does anyone know how it will compare to the 42" Tosh coming out? Any opinions on it? Hitachi TVs dont get talked about here that often any reason why?

I too would be interested in comments (opinions or fact, both are welcome :)) about this TV. Haven't seen anything about any Hitachi products in this forum, I believe. Someone must have it, right?

Greetings
The reason that Hitachi sets do not get as much air time here is that they are not part of the "Big Four."
Sony
Pioneer
Toshiba
Mitsubishi
and then there is everyone else ...
Panasonic
Hitachi
Philips
Zenith
Samsung
etc.
In the last year, Hitachi has gotten a bad rap for their decision to introduce the "Hitachi Squeeze" into their 4:3 sets. Not too popular ... nor was the fact that their HDTV images were inferior to all others especially the big 4.
As well, their RPTV's are generally not known for being as tweak friendly as other units out there.

Are this years sets any better? Also, with the 16:9 set you should not have to worry about the squeeze mode at all.
Micheal, do you know if you still have to take off the fron panel and hit the blue button to bring up the service mode?
Thanks

Take a look at any Hitachi next to Sony and Tosh TVs in a good store. The Hitachi's are usually brighter and cleaner. They are usually a bit more than tosh and bit less than Sony and better than both. THey don't spend big bucks on ads and sponorships, in fact a huge part of their business comes from selling components to other TV manus, like Mits. and others.
I'd try to get into an SDX model since this is their higher end. I've had my 60SDX for about 2 years now and while I'm on my second set (had a problem with the first one) I love the set and find looking at my friends Tosh of the same era to be second rate in comparison.
