All hail Global Warming! 95+ in Baltimore today. It just snowed like two weeks ago, I think.

I came upstairs from the cool basement just a few moments ago -- 9:30pm -- and found my house thermostat read "92 degrees."

92 degrees inside my house at 9:30 at night... It's like Phoenix in July.

I guess I'll cry uncle and turn on my AC... Darn.

My first reaction: Damn, Michah is one old HTFer, good for him!

But then I saw the preview of the thread, and said "Doh!"

I've always thought it's more of a humidity thing than a heat thing anyway.
I can handle the heat. It's the humidity that gets me.
I haven't turned my air conditioner on either. I'm trying to wait as long as I can before I give in.

I lived in Phoenix in the early 90s, actually. I mean, the nineteen nineties.

Last night at 9:30pm (when I began this thread) the interior surfaces of the west-facing walls of my house were still hot from the blazing sun, like the streets in Phoenix, which radiated the heat long after the sun went down.

I meant that it was like Phoenix in July in that long after the sun had gone down, it was still super hot; over 90 degrees even at 9:30 at night. Here in Baltimore, well, that's a little extreme.

I turned the AC off, tho, this morning. It's nice and cool, inside and out. I hate that I was "forced" to turn on the AC this early in the season.

Wow, that's pretty fast on your bike... You should race!

    Ohhhhhh, 95degF!

It's hot up here too but I never installed my A/C window units, I have a ceiling fan in my bedroom and make like the Europeans, pull down the shades in the daytime and open the windows at night with my ceiling fan on. Works great!

Well I guess I am a sissy. It hit 88 here last weekend and I had my air blasting. I don't like to pay the electric bill but I hate to sweat in my own house.

The record high for Baltimore on May 30 is 98 degrees, which occured in 1991.

The record for today is 96, also in 1991.

Jay reminds me of the guy who moved from California to Oklahoma and hasn't experience August in the southwest yet. He had no a/c until August started and they gouged him for $1800 for an ac system in the Jeep he had so he wouldn't sweat to death. AC is mandatory here. Lew knows [IMG]

Yes, the joys of triple digits in the summer followed by below 32 in the winter (although not nearly so bad as when I lived in Michigan).

It always seemed like we only had about 2 months a year that did not need either air conditioning or heat.

Not that I’m trying to rub it in, but I don’t have either air conditioning or a furnace down here—and really feel very little need for either.

It hit 90 here in Wilmington, DE on Tuesday. I hate hot weather, to me extreme heat is every bit as bad as extreme cold.

I'll take the heat any day. I hate being cold, plus, the dry air plays havoc with my skin.
