I get a hissing sound from my rear speakers. I went to CC yesterday and asked the guy what could be the problem. He told me that I had the rear speaker volume to high, and that I should set it to 0db my range goes from 10bd to -10db. Does this sound like a good idea or should I try something else. Any help would be great.

0db is a good reference point and adjust from there...
If the level is at +10 then it probably is too high.
Try a callibration disc and an spl meter to guage the level at the listening position.
if there is still a problem the try eliminating some poss sources of interference
