Today I took my girlfriend on a walk to Signal Hill. For those of you who do not know where this is, it is located in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. It is about a 45 minute walk from home, but I never seem to have the time to explore anymore [IMG]

It has a pretty rich history, it was the site of the first trans-Atlantic radio message, and was a stratigic military site for the past few centuries. (You can read more on the history here

Anyway, there is a trail that leads around the hill, and down into a small "fishing village"'esq area. It is a couple kilimeters long, and always an interesting hike. I have most of these pictures resized from 1600X1200, minus a couple of the more important one's.

    Enjoy!

The girlfriend on a cannon, it was fired every morning during the world wars, apparently.

Drops about 150 feet straight down, pitch black, you can hear the water crashing against the rocks underground.

Harbour view from the eastern tip.

Another dropoff shot, same as above.
One of the more narrow parts of the walk, straight drop of about 90 feet to the water.

Small warning light by entrance to harbour.

Lower entrance to rail is a small fishing village on the side of the cliffs, originally built a couple hundred years ago, but kept in reasonably good condition by locals.

Somebody decided action figures on a hill would be a tourist bonanza???

    Small fishing cabin, seemed abandoned.
Really narrow streets, people's front doors open into the street, the whole area is like this.

Very nice pictures. That area has a lot of history and such beautiful scenery. But I would suggest you just link to the pictures from HTF so you don't clog any of their bandwidth or create a nightmare for 56k users.

I apologize for not linking the pictures, but I had the bandwidth to spare myself, and I figured that "*TONS* of Pictures" would be an adequate disclaimer to anybody on 56K :b

Thanks for the compliments, I'm by no means an experienced photographer, and do not own a tripod, but they turned out better then I expected, since 90% of my pictures are usually out of focus or blurry [IMG]
