Why did you buy the HD adaptor when you dont have a HDTV? Just use the ordinary adaptor that came with the XBox, or buy the SVideo output adaptor for $20. Monster makes a nice cable with an optional optical adaptor as well.

I bought the HD adaptor hoping to someday bye one, and figured that all I needed was the Opti port. I thought it would work, guess not. =(

PS , I have the S video adaptor, but it has no Opti plug, so no 5.1.

The Monster cables have a small phono jack that allows you to add an optional optical cable. I use the SVideo cable and just the L/R audio most of the time.

Note: We DO have a Computer Game Hardware section that has a lot of info on this. Take a look.
