I'm new and involved in setting up a front projection arrangement. It seems like every day some new development shows up and makes me hesitate to commit cash for something that may get outmoded quickly. Now I read that Sony and some other company have invented high contrast screens--Sony's solution is to make a screen that does not reflect white light (only the color components of the picture) and the other company has a screen with a serrated surface, one side of the serration is black. Both screens give good blacks in high ambient light. So, are they coming next month or next decade? Somebody in this forum is sure to know. Thanks.

Nobody knows. Meanwhile, just setup an inexpensive DIY screen (painted wall or blackout fabric etc) and wait.

This question is best asked here. The Basics area is for general discussion at the beginner level. Thanks.
