I was skeptical about this show and only really watched it because it was on after Frasier and there was nothing else on. But it was hysterical. The dad capulint the poop over to the neighbors. All the men drooling over "porn mom". I think what sets this show apart from the other "wife and kids" shows is its Scrubs style wit. Who out there will not forget Paula Marshall behind the dryer.

Anyone else out there going to add this to there Must See TV list?

"Mommy, why are you doing the laundry naked?"
"Because all my clothes are dirty, silly"
I ended up liking this far more than I thought I would...

I heard an interview with one of the creators on WGN radio, yesterday. I didn't catch his name, but he is originally from the Chicago area.

Funniest part for me was the fantasy car wash scene. I said to my wife, "That's just like in Cool Hand Luke". Right after I said that the character mentions the same reference. The funny thing is my wife had no clue about the CHL reference. I guess that is strictly a guy thing, as is the show. Are there any women out there that liked the show?

I watched HIDDEN HILLS and have to admit that I liked it more than I thought I would (I was fully prepared to hate it and was already making jokes about it being on hiatus in less than three weeks). But my liking of the show is largely attributable to veteran tv actress Paula Marshall as the wife; she really brings a lot of energy and appeal to the show. She and the kids seemed to get most of the laughs.

As a female viewer, the "male perspective" (i.e. a white middle class male in his mid-thirties) doesn't necessarily put me off the show. I just think that Justin Lewis is somewhat miscast and doesn't seem fully compatible with Paula, both in terms of acting ability and confidence and physicality.

Upon seeing the ads for HIDDEN HILLS, I envisioned it as a lite version of MIND OF THE MARRIED MAN (one of the worst shows to ever come out of HBO Original Programming). In any case, I was pleasantly surprised and would watch it again.

My wife and I give this show a big thumbs up! :emoji_thumbsup:
I was skeptical at first but I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The In-Laws had a few chuckles. I feared that Hidden Hills would be the same. Not for me! I can't wait until it comes on again.

Melody,

Thank you for bringing a female perspective to this discussion. Your observations about the two main characters is very accurate, IMO. I am also a huge fan of Paula Marshall. I really liked her and Jeremy Piven in Cupid, a show I still can't figure out why was cancelled.

I laughed a fair bit watching this show which surprised me since like most I didn't have much hope that it would be very good.

My wife and I left it on after Frasier and really enjoyed it...quite a few laughs...especially enjoyed the Indian Princesses bit...My mother-in-law always has said that Indian Princesses is just an excuse for the Dad's to get together and have a few beers! The whole "Porn Mom" thing was pretty funny too...

I will definitely tune in the next time it is on...

Marty,

It's good to know I'm not the only Paula Marshall fan out there! You're right. Too bad about CUPID.

I really dislike most sitcoms, but found this show quite entertaining. I tune into Everybody Loves Raymond when I get a chance, and I'll likely do the same with this. And it's in HD too! :)

I thought this show was quite funny. I really like the mom on the show. I have seen her in other shows and think she just has that certain look that makes my knees weak. :b
